JFitz, it costs money to extract ore. There are many variables involved in these costs. If it was so easy to make a profit, I agree that there would have been easier LTF in the past. There may be much we do not know about the problems in extracting the ore.
Maybe there will be a large outlay required to get the right extraction processes done and to the satisfaction of government agencies that overlook such things as toxic bi-products.
If the lenders did not trust MD or MS enough to make additional large loans, that is enough reason to answer your question.

Seems to me CS mining already "swooped" in and bought the the mill, the land rights, and all assets @ peanut prices............cprkq owns nothing anymore.
Shareholders got taken for a ride.

Don't get me wrong........other than the shareholders being LIED!!!!! to and used.......there is some good that will come out of this.
Milford will enjoy having good paying jobs from this mine as CS will get this going the way it should have been 3 years ago. There are a ton of minerals in the ground waiting for the proper management team to pull them out and extract them........CS IS that team...........but current cprkq shareholders will be holding the bag forever on this one.
Look at it this way......you all used your $$$$ to help people in Milford get some good (upcoming) jobs......personally......I'm fine with that..........I just want to see some justice served with prison time to those that scammed and LIED!!!!! to all the shareholders.
