JP: I have no idea why 2005 is important to the discussion. Some of the items on your list happened before 2005, some happened after 2005.

The first item on your list was released in 1999 and famously flamed out. The concept was variously listed as the worst investment, worst use of capital, worst tech product and worst invention. Core to that cue:cat was NeoMedia's indirect patents used to obfuscate the Code 128. And yes, I was "around" for that.

That might have been a clue that "new wave thinkers" should be a little more analytical than "upbeat." Today, the above critiques of Digital Convergence/cue:cat are the same ones you have reserved for NeoMedia.
