Im sure that the underwriters are prohibited from shorting the stock while they are underwriting the secondary. They do have contracts for this type of thing. Its not a completely no-holds barred arrangement.
Yeah, a no brainer.. either that, or start selling to anyone else who wants shares institutional or retail. their block desk basically just got paid their bonus for the year.
