Why would they bother increase shares just to cancel out the shareholders???

On May 12, 2011, at the 2011 Annual Meeting of Shareholders (the "Annual Meeting") of General Maritime Corporation (the "Company"), the Company's shareholders approved an amendment to the Company's Amended and Restated Articles of Incorporation to increase the number of authorized shares of the Company's common stock (the "Common Stock") from 140,000,000 shares to 390,000,000 shares. The increase in the number of authorized shares of the Common Stock was effected pursuant to an Articles of Amendment of Amended and Restated Articles of Incorporation (the "Articles of Amendment") filed with the Secretary of State of the State of Delaware on May 12, 2011 and was effective as of such date.
