The boys are on a mission, kind of like Lance going up the Alps.

Let me know when AMD reaches the point of working
on its seventh consecutive winning year* m'ok?

*For AMD that simply means being in the black.

I noticed that too, sort of masters of their own destiny now.
Pleasantly surprised to see CPG reel in Flash's losses which were also less as I didn't really expect this until Q3 at the earliest. Fab 30 is obviously hitting its peak now with the retirement of Socket A and exclusive use of the potent E stepping. Mix will now gravitate to as much of the high asps models and then probably stay there for some time and gently taper off as the competition gets better but I can see it turning out a 100-200m profit every quarter for years to come. Hell I can even see it making its last stand against Intel's low-end 45nm as I don't see 3 Ghz K8s becoming obsolete anytime soon ! Then it can go embedded with high-performance at low power.

As to Flash well looks like it's finally turning the corner after catching Intel's best shot flush with mirrorbit shipments significantly up and Ornand on the way. You can tell the way Hector spoke about it he doesn't see it as a long-term liability and is in no mood to give it away, hopefully sometime in 2006 it can return to profit although even now it provides a useful role in bleeding Intel considerably too on the Flash side. It's a multi-front war they have with Intel and all campaigns have their role to play in the long-term ;-).
Anyway nice to return to profit and they should stay there for the forseeable future.
