#8622 RE: Circus Boy #8621

I have limited knowledge at this and this question may be better suited for someone else here but I will give it a crack based on what I know.

First off, yes there is always a buyer and seller to each transaction but there are also market makers that hold inventory of this stock and sometimes you are buying from and selling to those entities. Simply put if the bid ask spread is 95-99 cents this means someone is offering to sell at 99 and someone wants to buy at 95 cents. Now if I want to just buy it now and put in an order to buy it at the ask of 99 cents, I will get it at that most likely and it will show up as a buy at 99. If someone selling says, hey I guess I will take 95 cents for my shares then it will probably go through and that will show as a sell at 95. It gets tricky when transactions occur in the middle of these two. Also sometimes people's bids and asks never show on level 2 trading and I don't know why, sometimes you will see an order go through at 97 cents and it's a guess to whether it was a buy or sell. Hope this helps and that others can expand on this.
