Nuttin... Orchid was able to retain their original symbol ORCH as have others after a RS, so it may be a more flexible rule than that.
Here is Orchid's PR:
"Orchid anticipates that its common stock will begin trading on a split-adjusted basis when trading opens on March 31, 2004, with the interim ticker symbol "ORCHD." After 20 days, the Company expects that the "D" designation will be removed, and its ticker symbol will revert back to "ORCH." Orchid’s transfer agent, American Stock Transfer and Trust Company, will mail instructions to stockholders of record as of March 30, 2004 regarding the exchange of certificates for common stock."
On the other hand there are many business reasons to consider a symbol change...
