The same newspaper reported yesterday that atorvastatin was already shipped to the US by Teva.

The FDA’s PR in #msg-69479502 names Ohm Laboratories of New Jersey as the manufacturer of Ranbaxy’s generic Lipitor. If Teva is really producing Ranbaxy’s Lipitor, then Ohm is presumably just the fill/finish contractor for the product.

Teva’s Lipitor was evidently just a backup plan for Ranbaxy, and Ohm Laboratories of NJ is the manufacturer of Ranbaxy’s Lipitor. However, Teva is nonetheless getting a cut of Ranbaxy’s sales.

Nice gig for Teva! It’s like financiers who get a “standby” fee even if their credit line is never tapped.
