In GILD’s acquisition of Triangle Pharmaceuticals, it was Triangle who got fleeced. Without Emtriva, which GILD acquired in the Triangle deal, GILD would not have had Truvada or Atripla and probably would’ve ended up being a third-tier specialty-drug company.
