this was just one old article I found there are more recent articles on tri gate transisitors that discuss the disadvantages of finfet(double gate) compared to tri gate. In addition since these are non planar transistor designs that need new radical process manufacturing tech and knowing AMD does not control IBM's process flow I don't think AMD is in posistion to lead with this unless IBM already has taken the lead.
