No, I do not think that will happen. I listened to their presentation (about 20 minutes) and they seemed to be very optimistic with West Africa and Alaska as being their long term high reward areas.

I think this is a big part of Pioneers future plans and do not see them pulling out. This is probably music to their ears. It is always nice to have input from another experienced partner but it can also be a headache as there is more than one way to skin a cat and each company wants to skin it their own way.

The only thing I think this may affect for ERHC is future consortium with Devon for NEEZ..... Who knows though, time will tell.

Wick, "PXD has elected to remain in both blocks" and plans to operate Block 2.

One salient comment from the Pioneer presentation in London that hasn't been noted as yet on this board (to my knowledge):

"Our most exciting blocks obviously are centered right in the middle, around a block that Chevron/Exxon just went into. They'll be drilling a well in 2006; that's Block 1 in what they call the JDZ. That's the Joint Development Zone between Nigeria and Sao Tome, probably one of the hottest plays going on in the world today. ... Obviously we'll be drilling several wells there, looking for 3-5 hundred million targets over the next several years."

Sounds like Pioneer is pretty committed to their JDZ blocks. Centurion called the JDZ "one of the last elephant hunting grounds in the world." Pioneer says "probably one of the hottest plays going on in the world today." These words are reassuring.
