A smaller abuse of privelege occurred for many years in UK parliament on expenses which did not have strong enough guidelines nor review process.

Finally when freedom of information act requests resulted in expense claims becoming public, there were multiple police enquiries, resignations - even jail terms

Joe public lost what little trust that remained in the political classes - the politicians became seen as pigs at the trough

Will the major US networks run this 60 minutes story and get some of these guys held to account?
