How do you know they will really be able to produce it in 2012? Not that I know anything about it, but lots of news article reporters don't know the tech they are reporting and make mistakes.

I think the article author was told "2012" by Dr.Barron. She must have asked him for a time frame. I don't think she would have guessed at a year, that would not be good for her credibility. Personally, I don't think Natcore can mass produce that soon. However, Dr. Barron knows a lot more about it than I do. I doubt if Natcore will discuss dates, but I sent this email to Tom Scarpa anyway:
