The option is its own vehicle and it is priced based on the movement of the underlying stock or etf but it is a bet made on direction and your position has a counter party betting against you and hoping to take your money.

Options price determines Profit/Loss
The Options price is always where you will get your Gains/Loss. If SPXU had not moved then your Option price would most likely have declined with time erosion, closer to expiration without movement. There are several Option formulas that calculate Option price to Stock price but they are too confusing for me. Here is an example
http://www.riskglossary.com/link/black_scholes_1973.htm
Primarily what you want to look for are the Support/Resistance levels of the Stock imo. Then use those to trigger your Options trades. Don't be too concerned about the pricing you are getting when you do the Buys and Sells as there is nothing you can do to control that. The only thing you can control is where you will buy and where you will sell, formula's calculate the actual option pricing you see on your quotes. So don't be too concerned if you get .60 buy and sell at 1.25 and you think it should be higher or lower, just keep in mind where you want to Target your Entry and your Exit based on the Stock price. Volatility is a big factor in Options trades also, so use the extreme Price movement to help in determining when to lock in a profit. After you watch them for a while you will see how the Option price will have a higher Premium when there is extreme Stock Price movement {like this am), as the Stock Price movement consolidates many times the Option price will lose premium.
Remember to consider the Bid/Ask when making your trades also, as the spread can be significant in calculating profits/losses. Also be concerned with the Size of your Trades. Do you really want to have 6k at risk on a trade?
BTW, Great Virtual Trade and you are getting the hang of it.
Good Trading!
