#227078 RE: makesumgravy #227040

Just saw the movie, "In Time," and it is exactly how the world functions today. "Many must die so a few can be immortal." Very close to, "Many must suffer through life so a few can do whatever the hell they want to."

"In Time" is set in some future time/alternate reality Los Angeles where humans cease aging at 25 with only an additional one year on their internal clocks, displayed as a sub-dermal, glowing digital countdown on their forearms. People can only die by acts of violence, random or otherwise -- disease is apparently nonexistent.

More time can be earned (or stolen) so those who are wealthy live, while those who are poor die.

As a result, the poor take risks because they have nothing to lose, while the rich play it very safe, some refusing to take even minuscule physical risks like swimming in the ocean.

Interesting parallels to current society -- violence, drug culture, crime on the poor side, and boredom, endless desires for more, and thievery on the rich side.

The "wall street protestors" are the wrong group with the wrong ideas, but the one thing they do have correct is, there is a .01% (not 1%) and a 99.99%. What they do not understand is that they are being manipulated by the .01% even in their protests, as it will hasten the agenda of the .01%. Buffet's now famous, "Let's tax the rich more" simply means, "Our .01% is crowded enough, so let's tax away those on the verge of climbing our ladder of 'success'."

Hitler was not so different -- just a different idea aimed a different crowd. Greed and power are at the heart of everything evil in society, and those are both an offshoot of pride, said to be the worst sin of all.
