Is there "strong evidence"?
I'm not aware of the relevant protocol listing admission criteria for the trial having been published (or approved by PPB or an Ethics Committtee) or the appropriate Case Report Forms (CRFs) being made available.
In fact it's pure supposition on your part.
Indeed most HIV/AIDS patients are well-controlled on their ARVs so in fact your statement is likely to be wrong.

Wrong. If these patients had not been entered into an illegal, unregistered trial which had not even received Ethics Committee approval, then it's entirely reasonable to assume they would have continued with their life-saving ARVs. It's only because they were recruited inot this illegal, unethical, immoral and unapproved study that they put their lives in mortal danger.
That's one of the reasons that obtaining Ethics Committee approval for any study in sick patients is mandatory by US, Kenyan and International law. AQLV didn't do that.
It's also interesting that the claim that these patients were counselled by their doctors and by AQLV to continue their ARVs only emerged after I had posted the consequences of this action, and indeed this claim has not to my knowledge been made in an official PR from AQLV, or postede in a publicly accessible part of their website.
