It's not always a case of promoting for the sake of public awareness. Sometimes it's a deliberate attempt to shape public sentiment for the sake of paid-for promotion---without disclosing information indicating reasons for such covert action. I'm all for advertising and getting paid for it. What I don't like is using deliberatly deceptive practices in violation of laws governing public disclosure. I believe I'm bearing witness to some of this on this particular board, with a few contributors pretending to be shareholders and altruistically pointing to the merits of the company which has yet to prove its worth in my yes. Thus far, I'm thinking the rising volume has nothing to do with fundamentals or outlook, is based solely upon daily tout sheets and flagrant pompom waving without substance.
This is my opinion and nothing more.
