Why does everyone think that they are playing against the MM's? The MM's are a reflection of the orders they receive. They receive orders from buyers and sellers all day. Do they prop trade for their own account? Yes many do but they are just trading upon what they see and "feel". There are no guarantees that they make money when they trade for their own account. They are RISKING capital just like you and me. People think MM's have inside info and that they know what's going on. totally untrue. They base their opinions on order flow and the day and open orders they receive. When you all realize this you will be much better off. You'll learn to use them as cues and not curse them when the stock doesn't go your way. Use them to make decisions. As a long investor you shouldn't worry too much about the short term fluctuations. If you believe in the company then you should just use the dips as opportunities to add to your position. If you are a trader then you need to look for the keys. The problem with many here is that they are always looking for the home run. Many here have had decent to nice % returns and yet choose not to sell because they want more. Don't blame anyone else if you didn't take profits. Trade the ranges and those 20% - 40% gains will add up.
