CM area was withdrawn from wilderness consideration based of the mineral potential in the region. Thus the feds have recognized this is an area that may be developed. But it could also be returned to a wilderness destination area.


Owens Lake and Olancha Peak viewed from Cerro Gordo Peak. And this area can get a lot of snow!


This gives a really good idea of where Conglomerate Mesa is. Death Valley National Park lies to the east and Owens Lake lies to the West. The range between them is Conglomerate Mesa. So the wind could blow dust and air pollution down into Death Valley, which is less that 5 miles away as well!
