'Paulness' Baylor says it will use part of the funds to begin construction later this summer on the new research tower, which will be called "The Margaret M. Alkek Building for Biomedical Research."
The donation will be paid out over five years and will be used to set up and expand interdisciplinary research programs in cardiovascular sciences, diabetes, cancer, pharmacogenomics, imaging, informatics and proteomics. The money also will be used to recruit faculty, for lab development and to purchase state-of-the-art equipment
