Who put this together? Please don't do this...you just stir up the nutters.]

WITH horns of lightning and hollow eyes, a devil-like figure emerges from the dark skies to vent its anger.

As thunder rumbles and sinister clouds bubble, a huge electric bolt shoots from the devil's mouth, putting on a split-second biblical show for onlookers. As the giant storm cell erupted over Darwin, experts were warning of Christmas cyclones for the Top End.

The Bureau of Meteorology said there was a greater than 50 per cent chance that a monsoon trough off the coast would become a low in the Arafura Sea, adding a giant cell that could strike between the Kimberley and Carpentaria coasts between Friday and Sunday, Christmas Day.

Northern Australia typically experiences two to three cyclones each season, which lasts until April, but this year forecasters expect slightly more than average.

On Christmas Eve in 1974, Cyclone Tracy devastated Darwin and killed 71 people.
