cocoons are almost half of the weight of the worm + cocoon.

..... and you realize the mass used to get that cocoon is far more than just the mass of the worm+cocoon, so no silkworms are not 50 percent efficient.... the entire energy input to get that silk is what i am referring to, you comparison is absolutely wrong since you did not account for that.

It is interesting to note that one ounce of silkworm eggs contains 40,000 eggs (1,500 eggs per gram). These worms will eat 3,500 pounds (1500 kilograms) of mulberry leaves, and will spin cocoons which will produce 18 pounds (8 kilograms) of silk thread. It takes 1700 to 2000 cocoons to make one silk dress!

wow 3500 pounds to get 18 pounds of material....quite different than your 50 percent figure, way to go.

2) bacterial production facilities are expensive and high tech, more so than low tech silkworm farms. Round 1: silkworms.

Silk production is only cheap since it uses slave labor in asia.

3) extraction of spider silk protein from bacterial production will be a very complex and expensive process. Reeling and spinning of silk will, at least in the beginning, involve considerable labor (although low tech and can easily be located in low wage areas that need the work) Round 2: I'd give it to KBLB but opinions may differ, call it a draw.

I would not evaluate a technology that does not exist yet.....

Anyone who doesn't get that, doesn't get biotechnology.

All i know is renowned scientists around the world, 2 of which have worked with kblb(lewis/kaplan), see these other ventures as more viable when they get figured out. Viable includes cost.

You think Kblb will remain practically free of competition, KBLB is a strong buy at any price since April, people should not dare buy and sell kblb stock..... it is far smarter to buy and hold, stock watch alert is news, and borrowing money from a stock promoter is good business ethics.

I think I will simply take dr kaplan or dr lewis' opinion over yours anyday all day long, sorry.
