15 years is a little long, but not unusual. On average, drug develpment takes about 6 years from discovery to in vitro (test tube or cell culture) and in vivo (animal) experiments. After that, clinical trials can take 7-10 years (or longer) until it reached NDA status.

I stopped investing in companies until Phase 3 starts. The odds for failure are just way too high.
