Installing flash for firefox is fairly easy.

What version of Ubuntu did you install? Anything from 10.04 should have installed it automatically.
If not then download and install this: http://launchpad.net/ubuntu-tweak/0.5.x/0.5.14/+download/ubuntu-tweak_0.5.14-1~natty1_all.deb

Then go through and pick what you want and install as much as you want.

I've moved away from Ubuntu since they decided to go with the Unity interface. I'm running a Gentoo variant called Sabayon at the moment. If you want a more usable interface, try out Kubuntu. For years I detested the KDE interface, but have since come to adore it's form and finish... Not to mention it is a heck of alot smoother than my old preferred Gnome interface.
