Which makes me think: Unless our government wants to get go head to head with China in terms of massively subsidizing production, it would be best for us to subsidize installations, not subsidize poroduction. Hard to pick long-term winners in production, but subsidizing installations will produce long-term benefits no matter who manufactured the solar cells.

Half-heartedly subsidizing U.S. solar producers, in the face of massive Chinese subsidies of their producers doesn't make sense. China has decided they're going to be a major producer. We don't have that kind of will here. My dad used to say "never get in a pissing contest with skunk."
