I think we can't lose on phantoms. I'm behind on reading posts so maybe this has been covered, but It's my opinion that if you hold some of these phantom shares and you decide to sell, whoever "borrowed" them for shorting, has to find some really fast to replace the ones he borrowed. In other words, whoever created the phantom shares has to buy real ones and replace your phantoms so you have something to sell, otherwise he goes to jail. Now this is just my humble opinion, but I really don't think we could get stuck with worthless phantoms, the MM's have to cover.
