That's the beauty of having a product that you've almost never sold. You can claim whatever you want about price, capabilities, demand, etc. and then say "If only we had another $250k, we could prove that it's true."

Meanwhile, some $8 million in losses later ...

That's probably what people said about the first pc for the home in the 70's or the idea of everyone using the internet. Seems the company has done the proof of concept - now the task may be to expose the product to society. What's the best way of doing that? Shopping malls maybe? One darn good thing is the technology being useful in other areas such as Imasen. I think the company addressed this some in the letter to shareholders with the quote "We are shifting gears, so-to-speak, from an inwardly R&D focus to an outwardly sales and marketing focus." Seems great news that the cost structure has been drastically reduced due to ongoing technology improvements along with being able to use the Kinect. That was great thinking by someone. Seems there's a lot of interest in the technology that's being produced. The Wright Brother's airplane didn't look much like a refined Lear Jet of today. It took some time and generations to mature. The same will hold true with the Carebot. It will be interesting to see what other products come along that will be able to use the technology being developed.

How can Gosy reduce the cost of something the've never sold?

In many ways. I think you're confusing cost and profit.

If I'm going to sell cheeseburgers that have two slices of cheese
but have not sold any yet I can decide to reduce the slices to
one.

I have reduced the cost of the cheese by 50%.

And I still havn't sold any burgers.

Does that help?
