the picture is not close enough for me to identify many of the species, but it looks like a mountain mahogany savannah with a mediterranean climate on basalt flow topography.

with a short fire return interval, and the annual grasses are underutilized by large ungulates or other grazers due to either extirpation or due to protection from grazing for either political or preservation reasons.

if i had to guess, it is how i imagine areas of australia that receive at least 12 inches of rainfall per year.
