Your example does not apply. I was talking about what Kim would do if he KNEW or SUSPECTED that very good news was coming.

The situation with zinc fingers is profoundly different than it was with the piggyBac transposon. Zinc fingers have a broad history of use in a wide range of plants and animals (including the silkworm) and make exactly the insertion needed at exactly the location needed and on the first try in the overwhelming majority of cases (in a very small percentage of cases they have to be "tweaked" and redone).

With the piggyBac insertions were random and many attempts were made over years and there were considerably doubts over whether it would ever succeed. So whereas in the current case Kim can have great confidence of success back when using the piggyBac transposon there was no such assurance.

With the piggyback success was highly uncertain at the time he made the agreement. So your example is inapplicable to what he would do if he is highly confident that a good PR is forthcoming.
