Right. Like lightning. We now know what it is, but it's just as unpredictable as it ever was.

Thinly traded penny stocks are volatile and easy to manipulate. Insiders can change the direction of a stock with very little effort or expense. All a chart can do in that case is look back and show you what happened. It can't read the minds of those behind the curtain.

It has proven very useful for confusing and dazzling amateur investors though. "I don't understand this technical talk, but this guy does. I should follow him and learn."

Hence these kind of lines being thrown around on penny boards:

"Watch and learn."

"You just don't understand it, so you don't believe in it."

"It works for me!"
