It can prevent panic in those situations. Last night on CNN they ran a story about how nobody could call after the earthquake happened to check on their loved ones. The lines were maxed out and it is not going to be fixed so expect it to happen during Irene. In fact they pretty much said it will never get corrected due to cost. Everything else worked on the smart phones like texting and email. So even if you cannot talk directly with PhoneGuard at least you can get a fix on the location of your kids.
