In looking at the developer docs, I think I was wrong about supporting over 1TB of physical memory, even if distributed, in the current Opteron architecture.

All of the page translation stuff makes no reference to being able to program the System Interface on the chip to direct certain memory requests to one chip or another... That stuff is part of the AMD64 ISA, independent of implementation.

BIOS must program a "physical address to CPU" map into each processor upon startup.
