No limitations really. Just a little more pricey and different platforms. Some banks (Scotiabank and TD) can charge up to $30 a trade (no one besides your grandma would use this to trade her mutual funds), but OptionsXpress charges $14.95 at purchase and sale. Pretty expensive in comparison to my ETrade in the U.S. I have dual citizenship which may help explain this ability.
