I've read it twice and still don't know how I feel about it. The piece seems to confirm that there's considerable dissatisfaction with the voting process. One of the questions that presents itself is whether the cited efforts are truly concerned with solving problems, or is it just a case of misdirection ... a flurry of activity, signifying nothing?

I suppose, from my point of view, the weakness is that it does nothing to restrain the evils of party politics. The problem I'd like to see addressed is how to improve the quality of the people we vote for. The mechanics of voting may be important, but how much does it really matter when our votes can only choose between dishonest and the deceitful?
