Simply not true. All they have is another delivery mechanism for the first-approved triptan (sumatriptan). Sumatriptan is a long way from being the best triptan, and there is no way the PATH drug would be more effective than injected sumatriptan. It is true that it might be more effective in a subset of people than oral sumatriptan, which is now generic, but it will also cost a lot more. They also had a fair amount of irritation where the patch is applied.
By contrast, the MAPP drug is differentiated from the triptan class and will help some folks that are not helped by any triptan.
