Political optics.

How would a government defend providing an enormous amount of TARP funds to a group of swindling crooks?
Easy, ensure the crooks are never exposed.

I would almost speculate that the Governemnt/SEC is watching Claw's suit with more concern than YA as the outcome could leave them with 'some explaining to do'.
Political optics is not an honorable game.
