Grajekk, I concur with "A man of great common sense and reason. Great post!!" but in response Harry's post on the Steam Forum.

I approve of the decision to save money, keep it close to friends and family, and saving the valuable "day job" time.

Pragmatic.

And thanks to Rsum for sharing this good news!

After inferring that Bonneville is an armpit, I would be surprised if the sanctioning bodies at Bonneville, who bust their asses for weeks on end, in that blistering heat, to accomodate hundreds of land speed record trys, would even let our car through the gate, much less let us pass inspection. That place has been hallowed ground, for generations of racers, and not deserving of the repeating of that armpit remark, imo. I will give anyone the fact, that it is hell out there this time of the year, but thinking that we are better than the thousands of racers that came before us is a little arrogant. If you don't respect the game, don't play it. If the engine runs, Harry could have stayed in Pompano Beach to do what he does. He could have flown out for a photo session and flown back the next day after we set the record. The 2 week thing is taken care of. I'm sure Chuk could have filled the fuel tank and drove from A to B without Harry's help. If something broke, well that's what they make cell phones for. And with a 1.4 million dollar contract announced this AM and more to come, who gives a rip if we spend $20000 to go the traditional route of setting a LSR. My goodness sakes alive.. I'll bet they don't rent the space shuutle runway for a song either..
Art Arfons Green Monster and Craig Breedloves Bluebird were more famous than the Yankees back when I was a kid, and the place where they raced seemed like the track of dreams to us.
If you want to call a place an armpit, maybe it should be Iraq and Afganistan, where our Armed Forces are stuck, protecting our ungreatful asses... Not the Bonneville Salt Flats!
