I believe that you may have touched on this previously, but can KBLB not grab a relatively small sample from the cocoon without having to 'unravel' it and thereby affecting the worm?
Would testing this 'sample' give them a 'level' of spider silk protein or at least some level of information?
I realize they will not have the stranded silk to 'test' with, but just from a genetic perspective, would not they be able to ascertain spider silk levels from testing the sample of the cocoon?
Wouldn't this be news worthy?
I don't understand why one wouldn't make this test as soon as feasible as a time saver. I mean if the silk from the cocoon isn't what they want, then couldn't you find out by this test?
