Reminds me of the 'peripheral sink hypothesis'. Think DeMattos et al., were the first with the idea on the mechanism of action of Aß immunization (that binding of antibodies to Aß in plasma creates a peripheral sink which favors efflux of Aß from the brain) in 2001.
