Acomplia had the advantage of sounding like ‘accomplishment’ which is encouraging for people losing weight.

I thought it sounds more like accompli as in fait accompli, so patients would not bother exercising or keep their diet thinking the drug is all they need. Don't know if we can find out for sure why the FDA reviewers rejected the name.
