MLSP: Having Michael Vick as a spokesperson could have just as much harm as good for the company considering the details of the dog fighting operation he funded and participated in for several years. Please reconsider!

Vick has paid the debt to society for which he was sentenced, so he does not forever need to be punished. However, when considering him as a spokesperson for your company, do you want someone with such a horrific history to be your champion?

It's hard to understand the cruelty he sponsored and promoted against Pit Bulls, who are highly intelligent, naturally gentle and extremely faithful companions if not trained and/or bred to fight. Because they have extremely strong jaw strength, they became the breed of choice to train and breed for fighting, where the loser usually ends up killed. Sometimes dogs that haven't shown a willingness or good ability to fight are used as bait dogs to give confidence to stronger ones in their ability to kill. Others are killed in other ways just to dispose of them.

Because of such dog fighting operations and their resulting reputation as dangerous, Pit Bulls are probably the most abused, feared and euthanized dog breed in the US when they don't inherently deserve it. Some municipalities forbid owning them in any capacity. In those municipalities, they are automatically euthanized if found.

This is unfortunate because Pit Bulls that have not been trained or bred to fight are some of the best family dogs. They are known to be protective of children without hurting them.

I really hope that MSLP does not appoint such a controversial and previously cruel person as their spokesperson. He may have changed, but his previous cruelty and indifference to innocent and intelligent creatures who can look only to humans for food and affection literally sickens me. The fighting dogs needed human affection as much as anyone's Coker Spaniel or Golden Retriever.

I can tell you that I would NEVER buy products of a company that chose him to represent them.
