Stockhocker you are correct. Although I dont believe the Nigerians do it maliciously. I just think it is in their culture as Rancho noted earlier today.

They want you to think everything is going well when in fact there are still some bumps in the road. They are trying to put on a brave face to the rest of the world.

The mistake they make is the constant promise of awards on a given day. That is where they lose major credibility.

Having said all that my problem is with the Sao Tomeans and not the Nigerians.

Right on, SH. The bigger picture is: war over a disputed maritime territory has been replaced by a POTENTIALLY-HISTORY-MAKING opportunity for peace and mutual economic benefit. The JDA - which has a budget in the millions of dollars - should be a part of the solution in making this happen. In fact, they have been part of the problem.

I just checked a few Nigerian sites - Sunday's news are already out of course - and I have found NOTHING. I now suspect the JDA to have PULLED their communique altogether, which would be nothing but a CYA job.

Bottom line, I couldn't agree more with you stockhocker. The Nigeria - Sao Tome Joint Development Authority has been building an APPALLING record. Professionally-speaking, their credibility is now next to zero.
