"Congress is staying in session next week" - Why not? When responsible people don't get their job done during "regular" working hours, they stay until is is done - why should congress be any different? And congress should miss their summer vacation if they can't get their job done. THAT may get their attention!
Most avg taxpayers watching this debt ceiling dance in DC are thoroughly disgusted. All those pols who loved Bush's wars and had no problem borrowing from China to pay for them NOW don't want to pay the bill! The very notion that someone - Grove Norquist - holds a "pledge" over the heads of Repub pols makes me sick! With regard to those Repubs who sold their soul to Grover Norquist and his "no taxes pledge", Maine's Repub senator is one of a few Repub pols who stand heads and shoulders above MOST Repub pols..."the only pledge I take is to uphold the Constitution", Senator Susan Collins (R-Maine).
btw, Sen Collins said she would not vote for Paul Ryans budget.
