Applying a hot towel is always a good idea, dear :) and yes, when the skin is warmer absorption is quicker. I once had the opposite case when I got to the dentist on a cold day after 15 min ride on the motorcycle and the local anesthesia didn't work for ages until I had the brilliant idea to warm my skin.
