Damn. There's NOTHING I'd like better than to have a consistent supply of San Marzani all season.
But... That's what "pears" suggest to me. In northern Italy, plum-shaped tomatoes are called "perini". A few hundred miles south, they have no idea what you mean if you call them that.
If you mean the pear-shaped cherry tomatoes, well, I'd rip 'em out too. I just can't get into small tomatoes. Had a "Black Cherry" a couple of years ago. The damn thing was like a weed. Incredibly prolific, and gigantic. But I just didn't find the fruit all that tasty.
