Yes it is a very poor business model. They should have the basic tool for free and then charge for extras, more space, more advanced editing etc... Normal fans won't pay 10$/month to edit. They need to draw in people who like editing, which is a pretty small niche and many of those folks would already have their own software. They obviously do not care about the site and are more interested in selling shares or they have not even done the most basic research into their target market and draw.

Now, you said the site should be free, and that only pay to enter contests...

The editing tool is fun, sure.... but the main core distinguishing characteristic of MMX is the contests, interaction with the artists, and the like..

Not sure if you knew, but the jaycut editor and about 1000 other editors can be used outside MMX then the video uploaded to MMX, all with free membership to MMX?

so, your big issue is with wanting free memberships to include editor? that would be what satisfies, fills the gap?

hmmmmm.... not the social networking, not the sharing of music, videos, not the following favorite artists channels, not having one's own channel, not voting, not commenting on fav artists pages for their responses, potentially also...(all comes with FREE)
