#20319 RE: Muskett50 #20317

There's no reason why they couldn't. If Apple and Android can make a little app that streams contect, why can't Tivus? That would obviously eat into the movie rental portion of revenue hotels get so I'm not sure how much access could be granted. But it is certainly possible to imagine them building that capability. It's no different then if I take my laptop and log into Netflix using the hotels wireless. What if I could access my Netflix on the TV and the only thing I had to do was watch a 60 second ad before they gave me web access? I'd do it. And the hotel would earn their advertising revenue. But until I get a chance to play with it myself, I just won't know. The fact that the PDF says "Wireless Internet" makes me wonder what they mean. Do they mean internet on the TV? Or is the TV broadcasting a wireless signal similar to a router? My money is on integrated access through the TV.

Think of it like this: some of the newer TVs coming out at your local retailer have software widgets built into them that do different things. Some allow for full web access. Some allow for Netflix integration. Others offer Pandora and YouTube.

That's essentially what these TVs offer. Software widgets for interactivity.

The main question I have is how robust is the internet experience. Does it support Flash? Java? What about caching? That would bring into question user history. You wouldn't want to come in after someone checked out, turn on the TV and see porn on the screen from someone surfing naughty pictures (although it's pretty easy to scrub the memory clean when the TV is turned on and off).

Once again, if anyone gets the chance to actually play with this thing then please record it's capabilities.
