depends on how existing chapter 11 will look like, but from what I gather it is unlikely that common shares will have no future value at all.

- shares might be cashed out at a pre-defined value

- or they might be exchanged for shares of the re-organized company.

- or there might be a merger with another (currently operating) entity resulting in the issuance of new shares of that entity for Wamu shareholders.

The good thing about the current situation is that the public awareness is spreading like wildfire, something that was avoided by the inner circles for the last 2.5 years. Public awareness, in turn, adds pressure to find a solution that is acceptable for all participants. No value is unacceptable.
