Stephanie -- as is always the case, when fascism rises to power in what had been a relatively democratic society, it does so by exploiting (and/via corrupting) that society's own democratic institutions and processes, and it starts on the fringe -- history makes clear that to wish for a particular particularly out-there fascist demagogue, given just how ridiculous/ludicrous that demagogue appears to our eyes, to run against Obama as the GOP's candidate in 2012, is to tempt fate -- e.g. (items linked in):
