I'm afraid I can't muster any sympathy for Roofie. He brought it on himself. More than once.

I like your tempered view of this situation. I had a similar feeling myself but not quite as kind as yours. I thought, gosh he was actually a rather likable guy. What a sad end to this story.

What I have a real issue with is that he continued on with his game and kept his faithful flock holding on to a worthless dream . . . he knew their stock certificates were worth nothing. It must have given him a real ego boost to play these people the way he did. I do believe he is a sociopath. That diagnosis would explain his actions.

I feel the same, he deserves whatever the sentencing will be but, i too get no pleasure from seeing someone throw their lives away so unnecessarily and see no need to gloat and amazingly IMO its mostly the ladies i have trouble with, spitefulness.
